About K9 Friends

K9 Friends has been in operation since 1989 and our main aim has always been to rescue and rehome stray and abandoned dogs.

As a volunteer run organisation, we take in dogs and care for them until new homes can be found; giving them shelter and high standards of kennelling and veterinary care.

We also help reunite lost dogs with their owners, offer help and advice to new pet owners and we endeavour to educate the public and encourage a responsible dog-owning population in the UAE

Our Aim

Our aim is to find all our dogs homes for life. We have a very successful homing process whereby each dog is neutered, health checked and then carefully matched to its prospective new family. This, along with a programme of events focusing on education and responsible dog ownership, allows us to address the issue of stray dogs in the UAE in a sustainable way.

Company

We operate as a non profit organization through the Government’s Community Development Authority (CDA)

This allows us to operate legally and any money we make goes directly into the running of the shelter and the care of our dogs.

Support

We work together with Dubai Municipality and our purpose built facility was generously gifted to us by the Government in 2009. However the day to day running of the shelter is expensive, and we have to raise this money ourselves through adoption fees and the sale of merchandise.

Volunteers

We rely on a group of passionate volunteers who help in our office and kennels, as well as local companies and members of the public who support the work we are doing. With this continued support we can really make a difference to the welfare of dogs in the UAE.
